TechComm Training Group provides all training needs from training needs
analysis through to competency assessment.
Since creation, TechComm Training delivered almost
100 weeks of training. This training was delivered in Mexico,
Singapore, Indonesia and Australia.
The TechComm training philosophy is based on our:
-
Extensive Industrial Training experience;
-
Significant Operations and Maintenance experience;
-
Professionally qualified trainers.
TechComm trainers apply professional training and
evaluation methodologies in Industrial settings. Our approach is based
upon:
The TechComm Training Group provides all training
services from training needs analysis through to competency assessment.
The needs analysis may include aptitude testing and is designed to
ensure that training is directed at the most significant skill gap
identified. The competency assessment process has the dual purpose of
assessing the competency of the operators at the time of assessment and
also to act as a training needs analysis, for future training. Our
training needs analysis/competency assessment approach allows
quantitative analysis of the impact of the training.
We specialise in presenting Operator Training that
bridges the gap between commissioning and hand over of the plant to the
Plant Operators staff. We have devised a series of short quizzes that
give an indication of the readiness of staff to assume control of the
plant. If staff require additional training, TechComm can develop
remedial programs of between one and two week s duration to bridge the
skill gap.
A brief description of a sample of our services
follows:
Training Needs Analysis
This service is provided to ensure that all
training packages are tailored to the client s particular need and to
modify standard programs to take account of regional and cultural
issues. The Training Needs Analysis is highly recommended for green
field sites as it allows site management to define a site training
philosophy and to set down guidelines for future training efforts.
Operator Aptitude Test
The Operator aptitude test is an ability test
specifically designed for Operating Staff. As well as measuring
mathematical and mechanical knowledge, the test assesses the candidate
s ability to use reasoning to interpret and solve practical operating
problems. This program identifies staff who are suitable for senior
positions and who will generally be the most able of the operating
group. It also allows management to select staff for various levels of
responsibility based on a specific assessment level achieved.
Plant Operations Certificate
The Plant Operations Certificate program is an
intensive full time program intended to impart plant operating skills
to potential operators in the minimum time.
Self Paced Training Programs
TechComm Training Services offer a number of self
paced Plant Training packages. These packages are designed for on the
job training and guide the participant through selected written and
practical exercises. All programs include a tracking matrix and
participant guidelines to ensure the best method of completing program
is utilised by the trainee. All packages include participant workbooks,
reference material and exercises.
The self paced training packages are offered in
module format and are focused in the following areas:
General Plant Operations
This program is designed to develop an
understanding of Plant processes and practices. The training is
focussed on the underpinning knowledge needed to run plant efficiently
and to allow staff to develop high level operational skills.
Site Specific Plant Operations
The site-specific self-paced package is developed
for individual plant sites. The program is based on the TechComm plant
training plan. This is a structured plan that guides the trainee
through the material in a consistent manner. This package is focussed
on operating the plant at a specific site with additional emphasis on
increasing plant availability and reliability.
Permit to Work (PTW) Training
PTW training can be designed to utilise either the
work permit system currently in place at the site or to introduce a new
system. The program is designed to introduce all staff on the site to
the PTW system and to offer appropriate training to those who will
perform isolations, those who will receive PTW s from the person
isolating plant and those who will work on the isolated plant. All
training in PTW systems is competency based with staff required to pass
a formal assessment prior to being granted permission to work at the
various levels. If a permit to work system has not been implemented on
the site, TechComm can provide their own PTW system (modified to suit
site conditions).
Operator Competency Assessments
The operator competency assessment program is
introduced at the completion of operations training and after the
participants have completed their on shift training requirements. This
assessment is a formal method of evaluating the competency of each
operator. The assessment document is issued to trainees during the
training program and is used by the trainees as a guide for self
directed learning.
The assessment involves each trainee being
evaluated on all aspects of the job over one shift. At the completion
of the evaluation a copy of the completed assessment form is issued to
each trainee, and the Site Manager (or his representative). The
assessment will detail areas of strengths and weaknesses and will
include advice on extra or refresher training required.
